i have had a hardware failure and Apple have had to wipe my MacBoo. As a consequence I have lost Lightroom 5 which I purchased in 2014 after my previous laptop failed (with an earlier version of Lightroom).

Do I have to now buy Lightroom 6 and start all over again with my photos or is there anyway I can retrieve the software I've already previously paid for. (I have the receipt for the order but not the serial number of the product and can't seem to find a way to contact Adobe).

You can still download and use the version 5 of Lightroom, assuming you still have the serial number for the registration.
