Audio output problems

I am using Sennheiser Momentum M2 bluetooth headphones. However I get this issue even when using a separate pair of headphones through the audio jack. Sound from the monitor's speaker works fine.

When I connect the headphones to the computer, audio works fine anywhere else on the system. When I start up After Effects the audio switches to 1 channel and only plays in the left headphone. The audio quality also becomes very poor and crackly when this happens making it impossible to use. I'm attaching screenshots that show the system audio in MIDI setup with 2 channels, but After Effects only showing left.

iMac 27inch Late 2013

Processor 3.5 GHz i7

16GB MHz DDR3

GeForce GTX 780M

Have you tried the CC 2017.1 update to AE?
