InDesign CS4 - Paste greyed out?

InDesign has suddenly stopped allowing me to "Paste". All commands that have Paste in them are greyed out. My research says to ALT-CTRL-SHIFT on relaunching InDesign and then deleting the InDesign Defaults when prompted. When i do that I am unable to even launch InDesign and am prompted to restore  the file from recycle. Any pearls of wisdom out there?

If trashing prefs doesnā€™t work, you may have to uninstall, run the CC Cleaner Tool, and then reinstall.
