Faces and my locations gone after restoring from backup

I have just restored my lightroom from and up to date backup but all the faces I had painstakingly outlined and labelled appear to be gone and the program wants to scan the whole catalogue to detect faces again. Also My locations which had been outlined and labelled are also gone. Does anyone know why/how to fix this as I am reluctant to redo the months of work already put into outlining all the faces the program hadn't detected and labelling them all over again if there is another option, thank you.

Explain the exact sequence of steps you used to restore Lightroom from your backups. Provide lots of details. Leave nothing out.

I pressed File then open catalogue then browsed to most recent backup an unzipped it then clicked on it and it opened.
