Any progress on separating audio in Premiere Clip?

Hi, Y'all. I've been browsing the forums for a few days, and have seen a few requests over the past year or so to let app users separate audio from video to run it underneath b-roll. Has there been any progress toward implementing this?

I'm working with reporters to teach them how to create news packages on their phones. The ones on iPhones can do it fairly easily with iMovie, but we're hoping the Adobe app will be a solution for our Android users.

Hi Glen,

Separating audio is not in the app yet. That would be a very handy feature.

Thanks for asking. Very interested in your workflow you're teaching though. I'll PM you!

It seems to me that the chosen concept of representing clips with a sort of a "comic strip" does not lend to convenient editing of audio and video separately. I believe that a concept of timeline will be more useful if you want a professional multi-layer editing app. There are other apps that have this function.

If Adobe chooses to implement traditional timeline, please retain the current "comic strip" option, because it is much easier and more fun to use than a timeline on a tiny phone screen.

To me Adobe Clip is first and foremost a fun editing app, I do not expect it to have professional tools or to provide frame-precise editing. Keep it fun, guys! Do not make it a boring black, horizontal, timeline-based experience - there are other apps for that.

Hi Peter.

Somewhere in Clip it says that you can add your own music to the clip. How is that done?

I'm teaching a workshop about video production on the phone and i would love to teach Clip over iMovie because it is more compatible. When will clip have the same features as iMovie?

Thanks...

Hi Tim,

There's no way within Clip to add a soundtrack to a specific video clip. At this time you can only add one soundtrack to a project.

That's awesome you want to teach Clip. Curious outside of the feature you already mentioned. Is there anything else you'd like to see?

Thanks,

Peter Garaway
