Forms opened on my iOS devices from OneDrive are not fillable. The forms are fine on a pc and are fillable if it is sent to iOS by email.

We have several Adobe forms shared on OneDrive.  We have used this system for over a year for iOS users to fill out the forms.  In the last two weeks, now when the users open the forms on their iOS devices it is not an editable form (no blue boxes).  If you open the form on a pc, it works fine.  If you email the user the form and they open it on their iOS device, it works fine.  It is only when you "open in another app", "Adobe Reader", on their iOS devices that it is no longer editable.

As mentioned above, when you share the file through the email on their iOS device it works fine.

So when you send it via email, do they open it in the same application Adobe Acrobat Reader DC?

If you save the form locally and then open it through the Acrobat Reader DC does it works?

For testing purpose could you email a sample of the form to us. We would like to reproduce the same at our end to see whether it works or not?

When we send via email, yes they open in the same application Adobe Reader.  I have attached a sample.

I am having the same exact problem that Kim is above.  We have been using Adobe to work with editable forms and sourcing these PDFs from OneDrive and now when you use the OneDrive App for Apple these forms and past forms are not editable.  You can open them with a PC or from going to the Office 365 website, but they will not work using the OneDrive App.

Microsoft has chosen to make all files that the OneDrive app shares with the Acrobat Reader app read-only, even for files that are editable when you work directly with them in the OneDrive app itself. This is a limitation in the OneDrive app that only Microsoft can change; Adobe cannot do anything on our side to make the files editable.

Everyone, I may have found a workaround that is pretty reliable.   It involves making sure you clean out any fillable form PDF files that have already been opened (albeit unsuccessfully for using as fillable form). So you have to delete them off OneDrive as well as local copies located on ipad.   Then, make sure all apps are up-to-date.

Lastly, re-upload the files into Onedrive  and follow this protocol when you try to open them again from iPad:

Do not allow one Drive app to open the preview screen of the pdf;

Instead, Tap and HOLD the file you want to open until the blue bar and blue checkmark appear;

Look for the three vertical dots aka menu bar on the upper right corner of screen to select "open in another app"  then select adobe reader app.

When I do this, Adobe reader is once again able to view the file as a fillable form.   If you accidentally only tap the file and allow OneDrive  to open it,  it will cause it to be viewed as read-only and even if you try to open the file from Adobe reader the file will still be read-only.  If this happens, you have to delete both copies from both apps and re-upload them from your PC again into Onedrive and try it again.
