Graphics card update

Can anyone offer advice on a graphics card update?

I currently have a GTX 660 Ti - but increasingly I'm getting problems with PPro and Red Giant's Looks.

It appears my card isn't supported any more.

I'd like to get something

> on the approved list

> a definite step up from what I have

My system is:

Core I7-3930 @3.2GHZ

32 GB Ram

Windows 10 Pro 64 bit

That Adobe "recommended" list of GPUs is not up to date. You see, most of the GPUs on that list are no longer available new as they are almost as old as your PC's current GeForce GTX 660 Ti. Plus, Adobe has not tested any new GPUs for more than two years now.

As a result, I can recommend either a GeForce GTX 1060 6GB or a GTX 1070, depending on whether or not you're overclocking that i7-3930K CPU.

Not overclocking - so I presume the GeForce GTX 1060 6GB.

Can I ask another question:

To put in a new card - I just uninstall the current one, swap the board and install the new one?

Any pitfalls to be aware of, or is it that simple?

( I just want to check that I can just go ahead and order the card myself - that I shouldn't be thinking about getting a technician to fit it!)

There is no uninstall procedure, but you might go to the nVidia website and download the latest driver for your GTX 1060 6GB before and install it.  Then swap cards and you should be in business.  If that does not seem to work I happen to be using 378.66 with my CC2017.0.2. and I can run two GTX 1060's beautifully.
