We use various Adobe products and see problems with the level of access it needs to update or function.
Within our organisation we deny all users from being a local admin, it is a breach of our security policy. As a result we see frequent complaints that staff are not able to install updates or see droplet problems within Photoshop itself.
How can I reduce the risk to the domain, by modifying the permission level for the application? For instance, I am able to allow users to install fonts as a power user because I have applied that local group R/W access to the associated system folders. Can I do this for Adobe products, or is there an alternate way? I have tried adding “Power Users” onto the Adobe folder within Program Files but the folder remains locked for editing.
Hi IDW_Larry,
Photoshop requires Read/write permissions to some folders for installing updates.See Required permissions for Photoshop
If users continue to report issues with Photoshop, please go through this article Troubleshoot unexpected behavior in specific user account | Windows 7, Vista and ensure that minimum requirements are fulfilled.
Hope that helps.
Thanks,
Akash
