Hi Everyone,

I've been using the Adobe software for years but only recently started looking at and using After Effects and thought what better way to learn than just straight into a full project?

I'm new here... But I wanted to share with you a piece of work I've not long completed. Its a music video produced for One Cure for Man (James Parkinson). James is also an illustrator creating all the artwork for his music, I took his artwork and wanted to send the viewers deep into one of his illustrations which will form the album cover. I worked hard to make sure there wasn't a single frame without animation and motion. I worked right across the adobe suite to create this video and hopefully created something that is a little unique and never seen before?

I would love to know what you all think, all comments welcome.

That's a great first project!

You should look into using the graph editor (speed graph and value graphs) to smooth out your animations. There were a few pretty jerky position changes.

Otherwise, great piece. Nice concept and well executed.

Thanks Szalam,

Pleased you like and thanks for the comments about smoothing off the position transitions on the camera positioning.

Great feedback.

I like the song but the visual effects, while consistent, are not really doing much for me. Try and look for effects that complement the story told in the song. I also agree with Shazam, your keyframing needs some work to smooth things out. There are some basic principals of animation that you should become familiar with because they can dramatically improve the story you are trying to tell and they even apply to something as basic as a couple of position keyframes.

We all love Shazam! auto correct at its best I presume... Thanks for the info and link, Rick. Good luck Op! It's off to the graph editor for you. Ecabrams and school of motion have fine tutorials about it. Grayscale gurilla has an oldie but goodie. For in-depth knowledge, I would recommend Ae apprentice advanced keyframing course on Lynda. No one explains it more thoroughly than the Meyers. Look All those up and happy easing to you.
