Hi, I'm running the latest version of InDesign CC 2017 on a Mac with latest OS updates.
I cannot get background on Presentation mode to change from Black to White or Gray using the standard W or G keys.
Have tried trashing the prefs file and resetting InDesign by starting the app with Cmd+Opt+Ctrl+Shift. This did not resolve the issue.
I checked the Keyboard Set to make sure the shortcuts were still valied.
Not experiencing any other issues with InDesign.
Any suggestions short of deleteing the app and reinstalling?
Thank you...
Hey,
This is a known issue(bug) with InDesign CC 2017.1 release, wherein the shortcut keys (b,w,g) to change background color of presentation mode do not work.
It exists on both Mac and Win irrespective of the OS version.

Try restoring your InDesign preferences:
Trash, Replace, Reset, or Restore the application Preferences

Steve, Thanks for your reply, but as I mentioned in my post, I have already tried that, including removing the SavedState

Does this happen with only one file or every file you try?

I am currently experiencing the same issue as the op, as of the last update this past week. In addition, I tested a couple of older files and the same issue applies to older files as well.

Thanks for the reply.
I was gonna say... I even scoured through the "preferences" a few times and didn't see a new customization for this.

Thanks for the information Aman.
This is really bad. I use this feature dozens of times a day.
I filed a Bug Report.
When can we expect a resolution to this?

Hi,
At present I cannot disclose if at all we will be releasing a quick fix for this minor issue.

Come on Adobe. I thought this was the point of moving everything to Creative Cloud, so that Adobe could easily push out updates/bug fixes without having to do a major release. Right now this is a very Buggy Cloud. Not appreciated.

Hi Aman,
Any progress on this bug fix?
Seems like it would be a relatively simple thing to fix.

You're wrong. Unless the issue is very serious (can't launch , data loss) you wait for the next scheduled update.

Bump. I'm also wondering when this will be resolved. I use this feature more or less every day.

Hi,
Just to let everyone know, you can try out InDesign Beta builds for the next release, by joining the InDesign Pre-release Beta program.
Follow the below link for joining InDesign Pre-Release program and getting access to the Beta build of InDesign.
This issue is fixed in the beta builds.

This issue is fixed in the beta builds.
Like many here, I depend on InDesign stability to get my work done. Playing with a beta build is not a solution as this can easily corrupt a file.
Please release a fix for this longstanding bug !!!!!!

The point was that it is being fixed. You’ll need to wait for the next release. While it may be an annoyance, most users never even use presentation mode. If they did, it would have been picked up much sooner and generated a lot more complaints.
Just to clear, I’m not justifying it, I explaining it.

This is fixed in the CC 2018 release, at least on the Mac platform.
Shift+W to enter the preview, then either the G, B or W key alone for a grey, black or white background.
