the text is disappearing because the text layer is not starting at the start of the footage

as for why the text is not hidden by the walls, Ae does not now the real 3D geometry of the scene so it can obscure the object. you have to put a little effort here and mask the text. this reminds me of a tutorial made by one of our forum guru's Rick Gerard. have a look-see:
