AfterEffects 14.2.0 problems with the preview window

I am working on AfterEffects 14.2.0 and am having problems with the preview window. Only a small section of the composition plays back before looping back and playing the section again. I have never had this issue with AE before, and the MacBook Pro I was working on before had less memory than I have now.
