Unable to choose CS3 as a program default

I had my hard drive replaced and all files transferred to the new hard drive.  All programs worked properly with exception of Photoshop CS3.  I could locate in the program files and open the program; however, the program was not in the list of default programs when I try to open any imaging file extension.  Nor, can I add the CS3 program to the default program list when prompted.

Looking for a solution to make Photoshop my default program to open images.

How were the files transferred.  Was it done using a system backup to restore you OS and Applications.  You can not simple copy all files.  Operating systems and Application like Photoshop need to be installed and configured. Or the new drive needs to cloned from the replaced drive.
