Show/hide buttons not behaving correctly after export

I have an interaction i have built and when I sample view it in Indesign it works as it should but after exporting it doesn't behave the same way. Please help this is so frustrating!

             This is how it should look until the user clicks on each square.

Then once they click on each one they reveal the text and photo that correspond..

Exporting to what? Viewed where? What version of InDesign?

Adobe InDesign CC 2017, Exporting to PDF, preview in InDesign works fine but after exporting to PDF, show/hide buttons behave differently.
