IMPORT PROBLEMS

Hi, I have just updated Lightroom 5 to v 5.7.1. but when I try and import pictures from my camera's card the source dialogue box does

not recognise the card as being plugged in (SD card slot on laptop). This was never an issue prior to updating.

Has anybody had this issue or know's what the problem could be?

Is the card visible in the operating system?

It was not immediately after the download but when I tried yesterday it seemed to be working normally again - thanks
