H264 footage to mpeg2

Hi

If you could give me any advice, that would be great!

I am using Final Cut Pro 10.3.3 and Compressor 4.3.2 and Encore CS5 on Macbook Pro Retina 2014.

Because Encore CS5 hangs while authoring H264 footage especially when I try to make chapters, I have always use mpeg2 footage for Blu-ray.

And there was no problem with my HDV footage.

Now I have footage that were shot by Sony NX5R and trying to make a Blu-ray from it.  The footage is in H264 format.  When I transcode edited sequence to mpeg2 with Compressor4, Encore sees the file as not transcoded and when I build, Encore starts to transcode.

I am using exactly same transcoding setting on Compressor4 when I transcode HDV footage to mpeg2.

Anyone know any solution not to let Encore transcode what I have already transcoded?

Thank you!

Your H.264 for Bluray in 1920x1080 needs to be interlaced.

Encore-supported Blu-ray Formats

HDV pixel aspect ratio 0,75? It should read 1.33

Best is to export to 1920x1080.

"Exactly same settings"...

Is the new footage square pixels? (Rather than HDV) Look at that first.

If that does not sort it, please post  your export settings in compressor (don't know the program well, but perhaps it will shed some light).

I know we've heard this before, but don't recall the fix. What is your audio format, sampling rate, and datarate?

Thanks for your reply Stan.

The export settings for H264 footage:

The export settings for HDV footage:

These are default setting when I choose MPEG2 Program stream.

Thanks again for taking your time for me.

Forgot to post about Audio.

I am using the same file for Audio as when I make a DVD and it works without Encore transcoding on both DVD and HDV footage encoded Blu-ray projects.

Don't see the problem. But as I say, I don't know the compressor specifics.

Try mediainfo for a view of what the file characteristics are:

Use the "tree" view.

Thank you both for your advices.

I've tested with interlaced (Top and Bottom First) and both works.  Encore sees them as transcoded and not transcoding again.

I made a blu-ray with both interlaced files and both look the same so Top or Bottom both would work.

Thanks again.

SHo

ps.  about HDV pixel, I'm not having any trouble with 0.75.  I'll try 1.33 later.  Thanks!

You might not have any trouble buts it is incorrect.

Bluray is always top field.

Thanks.

I don't know why but I cannot change pixel ratio to 1.33.

I'll look into it.

I will set Top First!

Thanks
