Hi all,

Over the last week and a half, three times I’ve had all the menus disappear and the screen go wonky. It looks like this:

Screen Shot 2017-04-26 at 8.41.15 PM.png

No menu selections available from top bar.

Screen Shot 2017-04-26 at 8.42.26 PM.png

No menu selections from bottom bar.

Screen Shot 2017-04-26 at 8.41.57 PM.png

Those weird gray/black funny bars across the screen.

All-black pop-ups.

I can typically still move the mouse and try and guess the restart selection and restart the computer. That usually will reset it. 2 of the 3 times I’ve been in InDesign. I just updated that yesterday. Tonight, I was in Chrome when it happened, not InDesign, but had just left InDesign and InDesign was still open.

Any thoughts on what might be causing this?

Thanks!

Hi,

Can you check and let us know if the below workaround worked?

Goto preferences (command+k) and then navigate to GPU performance.

Then turn off the below highlighted preference.

I am assuming that you have an Intel GPU.

Your computer and all other applications including InDesign should now work as before.

I'd try restoring your InDesign preferences:

Trash, Replace, Reset, or Restore the application Preferences

Hi Aman,

I changed the GPU selections as you suggested and so far the problem has not returned. I'm keeping an eye on it, but so far, so good.

Thanks!
