After Effects freezes when dragging any files

Hi everyone,

whenever I try to drag a file (.jpg, .png etc.) in After Effects, the entire program freezes, which eventually forces me to shut it down. I just need to click on the file, and instantly when I try to drag it from the project tab, everything stops working. Does anyone have a solution on this? It is extremely frustrating, as I can't get anywhere with this issue.

EDIT: Apparently I can't drag anything at all in After Effects, not even presets. It automatically freezes when I do.

When you are having issues like this the first thing you should do is check for updates. If you AE is up to date then check for recent changes to your OS or other installed programs. If AE is up to date and nothing else has changed on your system then it is probably a good idea to delete or rename your preferences so that AE resets.

If that doesn't help, and you want help from the community then we need to know OS, system and AE details down to the last decimal point as well as a detialied description of your workflow.
