Cinema 4D Lite changes no longer refresh in After Effects 2017

The Animation I had created last week is baked into the After Effects layer. No new changes carry over. Did I inadvertently deactivate something I am not aware of?

UPDATE: It will refresh after I save the c4d project. I was sure it used to refresh without saving, which I find useful.

I don't recall it ever refreshing without saving.
