Distribution limitation techniques

I'm developing a series of technical papers that I hope to make available for a small fee.  How can I prevent a recipient from freely copying and distributing the delivered media?  I'm also very interested to find out if there is a technique that renders a document unusable after a specific date-time.  I know that media control and protection is a major topic, but I have had trouble identifying what, if any, relevent capabilities are native to Acrobat PDF.  Can someone point me in the right direction?

You would need to use DRM technology to do that, which is very expensive.

Thanks.  I've looked into it now.  I was surprised to find that a more complete set of capabilities was not intrinsic to the Adobe product itself.  The PW protection and other options supplied by Adobe are nice, but yes, more capable DRM technologies are delegated external vendors.  Paying for it is one thing, but adding a layer of complexity to the end-user, the document recipient, is unfortunate.  Thanks again for your response!
