I'm not sure exactly what the question is, but I will attempt to answer anyway.

The two channels at the bottom are either saved selections or layer masks.

They are probably both saved selections. If they were layer masks, and if you were working with the English version of Photoshop, the word "mask" would appear in a label with italic text.
