Just started using Acrobat Pro DC (after using Acrobat Pro XI for a few years).  Editing a .pDF and I see this:

What the heck is going on??  And how do I get rid of it?

Thanks!

Because the screenshot only shows a small part of the image, I can only guess that the following is happening:

  1. Click Edit PDF in Tools
  2. Select Crop Image tool
  3. Drag one of the corner handles to crop the image differently

The area of the image that will remain visible is dimmed while you are dragging the crop handles. Once you release them the shading should disappear.

if this is not what is going on are you able to provide a bit more information:

  • In which program was the source file created?
  • Are there any transparency effects interacting with the image (e.g. drop shadows).
  • What PDF export settings are you using? (if possible provide some screenshots of the settings).

Thanks for replying, Cari.

I figured it out: Unchecking "Highlight Color" in Forms got rid of it.

Preferences>Forms>Highlight Color> Uncheck.
