Using tools with free trial

I just downloaded the free trial, and I am unable to use the tools. I am trying to get rid of the margins around some pattern pieces (drawings). This is the main reason I would purchase this product, and if I cannot access this, there would be no reason for me to make the purchase. Is this not available with the free trial?

The free trial can do anything the subscription version does (except use certain web services).

What happens when you try to use the tools? Please be detailed.

That means you are still running Acrobat Reader. You have BOTH apps, run each one and compare.
