Performance slow down after LR is open for a while, Mac OS Sierra

I've noticed that if I leave LR open and unused for more than a couple of hours when I return to use it it runs unacceptably slow. Restarting LR solves the problem. I am using a 2013 15" Mac Powerbook Pro with 16gb memory and a 1gb SSD. I don't notice any performace problems with any other application. Curious if anyone else has noticed this issue.

I’m running current versions of LR CC and Mac OS. I had previously read through that thread and tried the pertinent ideas. And my issue didn’t exactly match any of the posts, hence my new thread. I do appreciate your suggestions though!

Please state exactly what actions in Lightroom are slow.

Also, please answer these questions:

  1. Are you doing a lot of brushing and/or spot healing?
  2. How big is your monitor in pixels?
  3. How big are your images in megapixels?
