How do I create a dust up effect from falling text?

Nothing fancy here. This looks like the most basic settings in Particle Systems II/ Particle World - a radial explosion with some masking.

Hey,

Honestly, in the video the particles looked a little fake you could achieve that using CC Particle World. There is also some great stock footage out there. Just google action stock footage and you'll get footage with either a black background or a green background. All you have to do is key it out or set the blending mode to screen. if you want super high-quality stock footage just look up Action Essentials 2.
