I am trying to install an update to CS6 Extended, both on my desktop and my laptop.  The update fails and I get the error code U44M1P7.  I got to the instructions on-line on how to fix this error code.  The instructions have me go through about 7 layers of directories until I get to the place where the instructions tell me to rename the file 1.0 to 1.0.old.  Did this and the update still fails completely.

Now what do I do?

Sharon which CSs6 Version Perpetual Mac version 13.0.6,  Perpetual Windows version version 13.0.1.3 or Subscription version 13.1.2.   Can you post your current CS6 menu Help>System Info.  Mine looks like this.   I believe normally when you get that error you nee to install CS6 installation on top of the currnt CS6 that fails to Update the  use CS6 meny Help>Updates and it should then work. Sir,

The operating system is Windows 7 Professional. I own Photoshop CS6

Extended (not a subscription)

I tried to update from the help menu. Update still fails and I get the same

error code.

I am to the point where I will give up trying to update CS6. I am very

dissppointed with Adobe on this issue. I am evaluating ON1 RAW as a

replacement.

Yes you stated you get error U44M1P7 Your CS6 install is broken/corrupt. Did you install CS6 on top of the broken install to try to fix this by back leveling CS6 to version 13.0,  then use CS6 Help>Updates?  Like I advised you to do. User here do not work for Adobe we are user like you.  I do not care if you fine something else to use.  If you want to fix CS6 follow the advice given.
