InDesign tools won't work. Is it a bug?

Hello,

Any tool I try to use has no effect on the document. I can't create text boxes, image frames, etc. I'm a design professional and been using InDesign for over ten years but I can't figure out what's going on. Both my InDesign and Mac OS are up to date. Here's a link to a video:

Dropbox - indesign.mov

Any ideas? Thanks for your help!

Which version of InDesign and OS?

In the meantime try trashing your InDesign preferences:

Close and relaunch InDesign, and IMMEDIATELY hold down Ctrl + Alt + Shift (Windows) or Cmd + Ctrl + Opt + Shift (Mac), and respond in the affirmative to the dialog asking if you really want to replace the preferences. you must be extremely fast on the keyboard (if you don’t see the confirmation prompt, you were too slow)

You may have to do it a couple of times before you get the hang of it!
