Updated computer software, now Lightroom won't launch

I recently updated my computer software, and went to open Lightroom but nothing happened. It just showed a giant question mark over the app. It is an older version (Lightroom 5), but it does everything I need it to so I had no need to update it.

How can I reinstall it? I tried chatting with someone in Customer Service but they did not know what to do

Do you mean your operating system? Please be specific. "The whole thing" doesn't mean anything. What is the whole thing? What software, by name? We are not mind readers. We all use different software. If you want help tell us what you did.

Yes it is the operating system. I'm not good with computers so I'd appreciate some patience. It is now MacOS Sierra version 10.12.5.
