Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC v6.10.1 breaks Sony RX100m5 ARW files

I just upgraded to Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC v6.10.1 (may 2017) and notice lightroom displays an error on files that were shot with a Sony Cyber-shot RX100 V, Sony RX100m5.

anyone else notice this problem?

how i import is I copy files from my camera directly into a spcific folder, than in lightroom i tell it to sync that folder. it can display the picture of the file but wont let me edit it. strange.

any ideas how to fix this, anyone else seen this issue?

LR error.jpg

it will display the files in full size but when i enter develop module wont allow editing them, its like LR won't support sony files any more, previous build was no issue but with this latest build of LR it seems to have broken ARW compatability.

i've reset my preferences hoping it would help but no luck.

Please post RAW samples.

RAW files from this review Sony A7R II Sample Images | PhotographyBLOG can be edited in Develop in LR 2015.10.1 just fine.

i put one of the files.

whats odd after updating to latest LR version it has broken all files. nothing can edited in develop mode, i cant edit the sony a7r, a7r2 or the rx100m5 files

prior to updating i could edit everything but after update i can see a thumbnail but unable to edit images, very strange

i have tried re-installing but exact same error

i tried rolling back to revious backup of catalog but same thing happens.

i have uninstalled and installed a previous older version of LR and all is fine.

i might just have to stay on this version until they fix this nasty bug.

the big reason i wanted to update is because there is a bad bug where the side panels go black, everything but the main image, this bug i think started about after 6.0 came out and has gotten worse. i was told this was fixed in this build.

i wish adobe would get their act together and fix all these bugs and stop introducing new ones.

when i first bought my sony rx100m5 it was not supported by LR

so i used an app to convert the sony raw files.

so i can convert my files and they open fine in LR.

but latest build breaks all sony raw files so i've had to go back to a previous build for now. i'll jsut wait till adobe fixes this bug.

I have the same camera and my LR CC 2015.10.1 reads the raw .arw files without issue.  I was able to import and edit your sample file without issue:

So there's something specific to you installation.

Please do Help > System Info and copy and paste the results here.

so lets assume the bug is isolated to my system install.

is there a way to purge LR 100% but keeping my settings? meaning i dont want to loose images that are starred, or my develop modules and export settings.

my thinking is updating on top of itself has broken LR, installing a previous version or something like it that has caused issues?

Your original post says you updated to .10.1.

However, your Lightroom is still showing CC 2015 ( = CC 2015.0). So your update attempts have not worked. There may be something blocking your update mechanism.

You need to update to CC 2015.10.1.

Mine shows:

bizarre, i use creative cloud to download and install it.

the install has no errors and seems to install just fine.

is it possible that is because i went back a version?

the latest breaks all ARW files but if i go back a previous build only the sony rx100m5 breaks

and if i go back yet one more build than that restores rx100m5 compatibilty

i also went here:

Download Photoshop Lightroom

downloaded latest build, so thats how i know i installed lastest one, why it does not say in the info that is bizarre.

but i assure you i'm installing latest build with no errors.

so what else can i do to fix this problem?

i tried downloading just the update which is about 200mb, but when i launch it i get this error

adobe error.jpg

butif i download the full installer, that seems to install with no problem. so i think i figured part of it, the 700mb installer does not update to latest version or in other words the installer does not have the latest build in it.

so instead i must apply the update but i can't figure out why the update wont install, just refuses.

Creative Cloud download and install errors

i tried go here but there are no adobe logs to look at, so i can't even troubleshoot why the update fails. ugh, not obvious
