I have a macbook pro and lightroom 5. All of a sudden it will no longer import photos. It either tells me an error that is can't find photos or it freezes. I am able to download the photos to iphoto but it converts them during the download to jpegs (they are taken in RAW). I tried making a new catalog to no avail. I am stumped and I have a photoshoot I need to edit. Please help.
Try using Image Capture to Download the files to the location you want and then importin from there by Adding... does that work??

Please tell us the exact message appearing word-by-word or post a screenshot.
Also, please tell us the exact version of Lightroom and the exact version of your Mac OS.
Not being able to import usually has it's cause in not having full write privileges at the target location of the import.

This really looks like a typical permission issue.
You should update to the latest LR5 version which is 5.7.1 - it's free 😉

Thank you this worked! This will be good for this instance but for future I don't know why it isn't downloading into lightroom.
