What happen if you navigate to the folder where the document is and you try to open it from the directory level? Have you moved the file? Can you try CMD or CTL N and see what happens? Are you getting an error message?

Does ESC dismiss the dialog? Can you go to Help> System Info... and copy the text contents in a reply?

@Celeste That is the New doc dialog and it is trying to create a new doc not open an existing one, just as an FYI. There may be a localization issue or a file permission problem??

Yes - I am wondering if he can bypass the New Start Window temporarily if it is a localization issue, he can still get on with working on the task at hand.
