Paragraph styles not working

I'm using photoshop cc 2017 and I created a paragraph style from one line of text that I want to apply to other areas. It creates the style but when I apply it to some other piece of text nothing happens. This is on windows 10 64 bit.

Anybody have an idea why this is happening?

Does it work if you select the text, apply the style and if it has a plus sign next to the style name, click the Clear Overide button at the bottom of the Paragraph Styles panel.

Yes it works now if you select the text and clear the override, how can i make it so it just applies without having to use the clear override button?
