Interactivity not working a more detailed description of the problem

Hey guys awhile ago I was doing a project for class

I had to make 5 interactive pages that would all link to each other.

I thought this would be easy as pie but I was wrong

despite interactivity not working I still did pretty good on the projects

Im gonna post screenshots of what I did as well as list what I tried

So for the table of contents I made hyperlinks to go to the desginated pages

In the final pdf version the only thing that happened was it reloaded the table of contents page

Every other page I tried linking to did the same thing

in the second page below I tried creating hyperlinks to go to the home page and the next page. In indesign this worked somewhat but when converting into an interactive pdf it didn't

I tried converting to buttons and bookmarks to go to these designated areas but nothing worked.

Is there a process on something that I am missing out on?   I am working on a similar project and I do not want to go through the anguish of the interactivity not working again.

It's almost impossible to tell you what's going on with seeing the files and knowing how you're viewing those PDFs. Anything besides Acrobat or Acrobat Reader is a crapshoot. That includes mobile devices and web browsers as well.

So unless I view the files on an Acrbobat Reader or Acrobat DC it won't work

Tried it with acrobat it says the files cannot be found.

I didn’t say that. I said it wasn’t guaranteed to work.

So, you’re saying you can open the PDFs in other readers but Acrobat gives you an error? Something’s not right here.

My mistake

well yes I can click the links in the readers like so

after clicking that it opens up a tab and displays an error

Now i tried adding the pdfs and the files in a folder together to find each other but it does not work that way either.

Just a guess here! Is the format you exported to "Adobe PDF Interactive." If you Export to "Adobe PDF Print," nothing will be interactive.

Have you tried creating text anchors and hyper linking the text from the table of contents to the text anchors?

I'll try that, but by doing this would it work on browsers or reader only?

Okay it works on readers only is there anyway for it to work on browser

Doubtful to get it working in all browsers.

Why not do it as web pages?
