I bought LR6 last December. It worked very well with my old Canon 5d mark II.
Now I bought a new Canon 5d mark IV. I was astonished when I recognized that I couldn’t open RAW file from my new camera by my standalone LR6.
I’m so disappointed that I spent my money for a latest LR and I can’t use it with a new camera.
I’m not professional and I don’t want to pay every month for Creative Cloud version. I need a working standalone version.

Just be aware that Adobe is not the producer of your Camera model and therefore under no obligation to provide you with software to process the raw files produced by your camera. Canon provides their own software which enables you to process the files produced by their camera.
Each camera model has their own unique raw image data and requires updating of the raw processing application fro m Canon and any other third party software provider be it Adobe, Capture One, DxO, SilkyPix etc.
All these third party providers of applications for processing raw data from digital cameras need time to generate and test new camera profiles to process the data from each and every new camera model. This process cannot start until the camera is introduced into the market, hence the lag before the support is available.
If the use of Adobe software is critical to your survival then its best to wait until support is available before purchasing a new camera.
