Index Case Sensitivity

Hello,

I'm working on a 1000 page text book. I need to create an index for the book and am having issues with the case sensitivity. I am working with drug names and in the body text they may not be capitalized, but when I use them in charts, they may have initial caps. Is there a way to get around having to index them both ways and then combining each one in the index?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Does this help?

Capitalize index entries

The Capitalize dialog box provides a global solution for editing the capitalization of index entries so that you don’t have to edit entries one by one. For example, if you’ve indexed some of your entries as lowercase (cats) and others as uppercase (Cats), these entries will be considered separate topics. You can fix this problem by capitalizing selected entries.

    • In the preview area of the Index panel, select an entry.
    • Choose Capitalize in the Index panel menu

Thanks, but this only addresses this issue after the words are indexed. I was hoping for a solution that picks up both versions of the word (capped and lower case) when you hit the "Add All" button while indexing the word. I would still have to find a version of each word twice and index it both ways.

That is correct.

What you might find slightly faster is to locate the first occurrence to the word—let's say "tea", and Add All. Then simply change the "t" to "T" and Add All again. This will give you "tea" and "Tea".
