Photoshop Speed issue

My work computer has issues when it comes to Photoshop and it's basic features.  Takes a full minute to show me font options, application freezes for basic tasks like switching tools.  I have already "optimized" my Photoshop setup and have gone through the entire forum post describing all the ways to improve performance.  My work computer is quite the beast: 

• 64 GB of ram
• intel core, i7-6900K cpu - 3.20ghz
• 2 GPU's GTX 1070, and 1080
• 2 TB Hard Drive

I switch between my SDD and HD and both have poor performance, my SDD is kinda full so ill stick to the HD for now.  This computer is optimized for 3D rendering ( if that affects anything ) and cost around $5000.  Yet my $2000 home computer i built myself, with about half of the specs that i have given here, has no trouble at all with photoshop.  If i had to guess there has to be some type of software issue, some driven not updated or something.  But im not sure, hope I can get some insight here, thanks.

Most of these thread are not specific to my issue.  It is not a layer issue when it comes to type, its when i attempt to pick the font, its as if it having trouble loading my fonts.  And this is an overall issue with Photoshop, I have checked my task manager while these issues happen, and Photoshop stops responding and only maxes out at 19% memory usage, and a mere 5% CPU is being used.

This issue is still not solved, and adobe's "solution" of having a community driven forum to help there own customer is a cheap solution.  This is incredibly unhelpful, I CANNOT USE YOUR PROGRAM PROPERLY  - it runs slow, slows down for every task, and this doesnt happen on computers with worse specs.  I have gone through all the pre-written , one size fits all, troubleshooting forums for performance issues, they have not solved this issue.  Not to mention you don't even allow us the option to contact support directly if we need, if its a "troubleshooting" question, you only give us one option, the forums, that is basically a gamble if people feel like helping or not.

I can not agree with your statement "a community driven forum to help there own customer is a cheap solution.  This is incredibly unhelpful" Most users will not agree with incredibly unhelpful.   You right about it not being an expensive line item for Adobe.   If you wish to communicate this to Adobe you should you the site the setup for feedback to them: Photoshop Family Customer Community not this forun as you know we are users like you.

Let me rephrase:  It's unhelpful to me."  My issue went into a sea of issues of hundreds of users and was answered, once.  incorrectly.  So, I was not helped, and they only way to get more help is to ask again.  My issue still stands, photoshop is running bad.  Its a top of the line PC, and it can't run Photoshop properly.  I have done EVERYTHING posted on these forums about "optimizing", It's obvious that it is an advanced issue, and I am at the mercy of some photoshop master of peering at forum post.  This area should be a last resort, not the only resort....

Have you posted  your Photoshop CC 2017.1.1 menu Helpl>System Info?  If not you should. Someone here may see something in there that is meaningless to you but may help others see where you many have a problem.  We do not use crystal balls here we need more then that.  Even if you machine only  has a slow hard drive  Photoshop should perform better then way your getting and Photoshop should not freeze.   You  install may be triggering bugs others may not be.  You problem could be an Adobe bug or it could be an installation or configuration problem. The more system information you give us gives us more to think about. Follow the guide lines:

Supply pertinent information for quicker answers

• The more information you supply about your situation, the better equipped other community members will be to answer. Consider including the following in your question:
• Adobe product and version number
• Operating system and version number
• The full text of any error message(s)
• What you were doing when the problem occurred

Thank you for posting the information.  I have looked through it  and am sorry you report I see nothing in it the strike me as a red flag.  You are not loading any third party plugins and I see no error messages.  In mint I see I set tile size and number of caches higher however your default Adobe settings should no cause and problems.

I use Windows 10 Preview and You use windows 8.  Windows 10 preview has its own issues the last one would not even install on my workstation.

You gave a great Gaming Nvidia GTX 1080 and a very recent driver.  You may wan to try  some of Nvidia's older drivers maybe so new bleeding edge update is giving Photoshop some problems. But I know of no issues with Nvifia's drivers.  Trying older drivers is just a shoot in the dark,   I see no problems with information.

The only thing I see that may be a problem is it look like you only have your C: SDD  as Photoshop scratch space and it has 100GB free.  CC 2017 could easily fill that and you system performance will go to pot windows needs free space on C: tho run well.   CC 2017 also has a known that fill scratch space.   Does Photoshop start OK then everything slow down?   Try changing Photoshops Preferences.  Remove C: from scratch space and make your 2TB drive Photoshop scratch drive.  Stop and start Photoshop than.

I am having a similar problem since the most recent update. Photoshop has become virtually unusable, even the most basic functions cause the program to lag and on occasion crash. Anything from trying to place/scale an object, to zooming in/out, to re positioning layers to editing text, I haven't even dared to try working with 3D layers through fear of my throwing my laptop out the window. These issues did not occur anywhere near as much previous to the most recent update. As helpful as these forums are, the fact there is no dedicated go to location to deal directly with the support team is unacceptable and a major cop out on Adobe's front. I am however, extremely grateful for the contributions of the users to these forums.

I appreciate the help.  I am experiencing no issues with any other applications, I attempted changing the scratch disks, made the other drive the main, and even tried to activate both hard drives, no improvement was shown.  Its difficult to explain, from my experience the program is acting as if my hardware is just not up to par,  every action takes much longer then it should.  I can easily compare this computer ( work computer ) with my at home computer that runs Photoshop with no issues.  So, i know what its suppose to be running like, and something is not right.  It may be worth it to make a video, were I record the screen and compare both, response times, etc.

I do not think a video will help any we would just see what you see poor performance.  I do not think we would see what is the cause any more the you see the cause in a 3d World with touch, feel, sight and sound..

When all attempts fail  uninstall Photoshop delete preference files on the system. Download and use Adobe clear. Then have Photoshop re-install at work.
