Can't open CC .indd with CS6?

I'm having an issue opening a document that was saved in Creative Cloud but I have InDesign CS6. Is there a way I can open the file without switching to CC?

Get whoever sent it to you to save it back via IDML.

Hi Bonnie,

Backward compatibility is a bit tricky with InDesign. If you need to open files created in ID CC into CS6, you need to save it as IDML (as suggested above). Please check this help file: Open InDesign files in previous versions
