Batch edit data in multiple InDesign docs

I have a datasheet that needs to be output into 1000 different datasheet with just a few bits of data unique to each one.  Is there a way to automate this?  I've tried exporting to InCopy, but that doesn't seem to help with editing multiple documents.  Or, really, creating multiple documents... Perhaps there's a way to set up a form with fields that can be populated by data in a spreadsheet?  Is this even possible?

Thank you!!

Oh thanks!!  That's probably where my brain was headed when I mentioned form fields, but I just hadn't gotten there yet!
