Hi, I use Lightroom 6 successfully, but today when in Library and changing to Develop it said the file could not be found. I updated and rebooted, but now Develop is missing completely! Any suggestions?

Only the Develop Heading is missing. See post above to fix that. But hitting the d key (Lower Case D, No Shift) should take you to the develop module whether or not that Heading is displayed or not.

Press D

but today when in Library and changing to Develop it said the file could not be found

An entirely different problem, the file (or folder that contains it) has been renamed, moved or deleted outside of Lightroom. On Windows, it could also mean that the drive letter has changed. To fix the problem, please read these instructions: Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders

Hi,

I feel that I have been misunderstood. The 'Develop' heading at the top of

the Lightroom page has vanished. The problem began when I was in Library

mode, and clicked on Develop to work on an image. I received the message

that the folder could not be found. I tried updating Lightroom, and

rebooted, but now Develop has vanished from the programme.

As you have explained things, there are two different problems

  1. Develop heading is not present
  2. File cannot be found

Does pressing D cause the Develop heading to appear? (it sounds like you haven't even tried)

Does the problem where you get the message that the File cannot be found disappear, or does it still happen?

If I am still misunderstanding, then show us a screen capture of these problems.

Also, don't post your telephone number or address in a public forum like this.

HI,

The Develop part of the programme is missing completely as you can see from

the attached screenshot. When I had the problem with the message file not

found it remained on the screen while I was in the Library mode.

I did not notice that my details had been included as a footer, sorry about

that.

Hi Jim,

However, I still have the issue of not being able to transfer from Library

to Develop as you can see from the attached screenshot!

There is no Attached screen shot. you have to actually log in to the forum site and post the screen shot in your reply. You can not include a screen shot in an Email reply.

Your other problem, "File could not be found", is because you moved or delete the original file or it is on an External drive that is not connected or has problems/faults/failed.

Apparently you have a folder of images that you moved, and you didn't use Lightroom to move the folder. Does that sound like something you did?

Just right click in the menu area next to Library and make sure there is a checkmark in Develop. As far as your "missing" photos are concerned, check out this article:
