Rename the Adobe folder to something like "AdobeOLD". Then, when you launch After Effects, it should rebuild the folder structure with the appropriate permissions.

I am currently facing this problem. In my case though, the folder "Adobe" inside Preferences does not even exist. Do you have any idea why is that?
