I just recently got a NIkon D500 and am trying to import RAW files into lightroom from the XQD card. When I select them to import, then click the import button, I get a message. lightroow raw files.png

How do I get past this and get the RAW files imported into lightroom?

This indicates you don't have write permission on the folder to which you are importing. Go to import dialog box (lower right when you are importing), see what folder that is. Then either change permissions on the folder or better, find a more suitable folder that is part of your user area with proper permissions.
