There are some plotters for which it is necessary to first export the InDesign as a jpeg, open it in Photoshop and make the layout into a tiff before it can print gradients successfully. This is especially true of older model plotters.

A plotter!

Try to print on say an inkjet printer.

The common term for a large format inkjet printer is a plotter. We are a long way from those pen driven vector devices of the ’80s.

To OP:

Can you be more descriptive? What do you mean by the gradients don’t print? Do they appear in the PDF but not on paper? Do they print as a solid, as nothing at all, or something else? And, just so I know we’re clear, is this a large format inject printer? Can it print gradients from other sources, like raster images or directly from InDesign?

Some visuals would help, like a screen capture of the InDesign file or the PDF and a photo or scan of the output. What are your PDF export options?

I'm prefer another way. Need to do export PDF from InDesign without flatten transparency, than open this PDF in Photoshop and save as PSD 600 dpi (for hither-look, if for street-view than you can use some smaller dpi), than send this banner to "large" printer from Photoshop.

Are you use print directly from InDesign? If yes, don't do this again. Always print from Acrobat Pro or as I say above. Print from InDesign is a feature for proofreading of the text only.

Remember, never say you can't do something in InDesign, it's always just a question of finding the right workaround to get the job done. © David Blatner

We ended up going this route and managed to have it printed with gradients. Thanks for this.
