lightroom 5 won't open on my Mac Sierra

I just downloaded Light room 5 and when i click to open the app it flashes the startup window then closes.

I can't even reset my preferences, because Lightroom won't open. When I click to open lightroom, the startup window flashes, then a red PDApp thumbnail appears in my toolbar, and then both disappear.

I assume you mean macOS 10.12.6 - the latest version of Sierra.

OS X 10.12.6

Fresh download and install of Lightroom 5.7.1 [994773]

Deleted all preference files for all Lightroom versions.

Issue persists

I am getting same thing. Downloaded, installed. Start up for lightroom shows up, then the red adobe box at bottom and then nothing. No error messages, nothing. Just doesn't do anything at all.

LATEST

LIghtroom 5 has known issues running on High Sierra. You need to either upgrade your Lightroom to Lightroom 6 or LIghtroom Classic CC, or downgrade your operating system to Sierra.
