1. Re: I thought this product was discontinued?
Symantec Oct 1, 2008 12:43 PM (in response to dynamicseo)Not discontinued yet just abandoned, burried and forgotten like most of the other products that came out of Allaire.
It is part of the reason I am now develop only in .net/java and im not talking about jrun (which is probably abandoned too). Based on what happend with Allaire's tools I can tell you this it will be a cold day in hell before I purchase/use a copy of dream weaver. If you still have a copy of Homesite good for you its sill a decent tool although it could have been a lot better had any work been put into it in the past 5 years. -

eye4q Oct 13, 2008 9:06 AM (in response to dynamicseo)It's a real pity that this excellent but basic HTML editor has bit-the-dust.
It was my favourite editor for many years. -
3. I thought this product was discontinued?
article man Oct 21, 2008 3:26 PM (in response to dynamicseo)i use Dreamweaver and am totally in love with it,its been there for me when i need it the most! never any problems with it -
4. I thought this product was discontinued?
WinterNet Oct 22, 2008 12:32 AM (in response to article man)"kukonRO" and "article man", may I ask you what you use Dreamweaver for? Is it only webdesign, or do you also use it for scripting, eg. PHP and Javascript? If you use it for scripting, Homesite is far better than Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver is optimized for designing, not at all for writing code. Regarding designing I still don't even like Dreamweaver. One of my main arguments is that it doesn't deal very well with floating design. -
5. Re: I thought this product was discontinued?
JeffW Nov 6, 2008 1:03 PM (in response to dynamicseo)It's still for sale, though, as others mentioned it hasn't been updated in a while despite users asking Adobe and Macromedia to do so.
For me it's still an excellent editor and I still use it for my web work, especially for scripted languages (asp, psp, etc) -
6. Re: I thought this product was discontinued?
Sqrlz Nov 21, 2008 11:29 AM (in response to dynamicseo)And we keep hoping Adobe will not abandon it - I check in now and then just because it is SO cool! I must say though - I have made some money cleaning up some Dreamweaver messes.
No matter how many times I tell clients that for professional website you gotta have real code, one or two a year opt for somebody slamming a site together in Dreamweaver and 1 or 2 a year cycle back... -
7. Re: I thought this product was discontinued?
MarbleHost Dec 1, 2008 1:58 PM (in response to dynamicseo)I also used it for many years. In fact, it was one of my first editors. ...but every editor is better then notepad :) -
8. Re: I thought this product was discontinued?
plarts Dec 8, 2008 10:39 AM (in response to dynamicseo)I would like to ask ADOBE to reconsider HomeSite which is the best HTML editor. I still use it, if I change of HTML editor, i am losing a lot of time.
Also, I liked we can use and modify the VTM files.
Is there somewhere a full documenttaion on how to modify the VTM files.
Example : I want to add the "title" in the IMG tag, I did it in the VTM file,
but I do not know what to modify to make it rendered ?
Thanks for any comments,
Pierre. -

Roy Reed May 16, 2009 8:12 AM (in response to plarts)The VTML Tips page on Marjolein Katsma's site might help. I think she wrote (or rewrote) most of HS's VTM files.

mixsetup Jun 11, 2009 1:27 AM (in response to dynamicseo)I still use Homesite 5 to this day. I try others but Homesite is the king of HTML editors and I always end up using it.

garfld1 Aug 1, 2009 8:08 AM (in response to mixsetup)I also still use Homesite and it is the best.
It would be great if at least Adobe would release the code as open source and some developers could continue to work on it.
