crashing even with the most simple tasks!

oke so i have been trying to make simple intro's for my youtube channel. but AE keeps crashing. for example: I want to add text in the intro and it chrashes.

my specs. i have a MSI laptop

processor: i7 4720hq 2,60 Ghz quadcore

RAM: 8GB

Windows 10 64 bits

Videocard: GTX 950m

i dont understand why it crashes with such simple tasks!

Provide crash info and tell us the exact AE version.

version is AE CC2017 i have adobe creative cloud so i constantly update my apps.

and the crash just says: AE stoped working. once it said that it has too short of memory but i allready gave AE the most RAM possible.

You shouldn't do that. You should reserve about a quarter of your RAM for other system resources.
