Working with Syriac in InDesign CC

I'm using InDesign CC (2017) and I need to write Syriac in a document. I am able to get the characters to bind together correctly (changing to Adobe World-Ready Paragraph Composer). However, I am not able to change from Left-to-right direction to Right-to-left direction (Syriac is written from right to left).

Any help on this is very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Tomas

I'm not familiar with Syriac (other than a quick google search), but you need a MENA (Middle East and North African languages) version of InDesign 2017 for the direction option to appear. You install it via the CC desktop application.

Find and install Hebrew or Arabic editions of InDesign CC or Illustrator CC

You need to uninstall InDesign then re-install using Middle Eastern version. Then you will get the paragraph option settings.

Is it not possible to have both versions installed at the same time? I'm afraid of loosing settings etc. when I uninstall this version I have now.

You can install an English MENA version so you shouldn't lose any settings, and you can always reinstall the current version. It's part of your CC subscription.

I don't think so. I haven't found that possible, nor needed, and I work in

over 20 languages :-)
