I have a photo, which has to be revealed through mosaics/squares which are moving from the top left corner to the bottom right corner. While they move, it will reveal the picture. I hope its understandable what I mean. I don't need any 3D or camera effects. Just a simple photo reveal. At the beginning, the picture is white and you only see two squares on the top corner. Once they start moving more squares will appear and the original photo appears after them.
Is there a simple way to achieve this effect? Because I startet creating the squares bei hand and masking the white layer on top of the image. But this takes ages and I'm hoping, that there might be a faster way.
Thanks in advance
The card wipe transition would probably be the easiest way.
The most basic settings are:
set the rows and columns to match for squares
Set the back layer to "none"
flip order to "top right to bottom left"
add a small value to "time randomness"
Animate transition completion from 100% to 0%

Windows Movie Maker/PowerPoint - Transitions. You'll find it right next to the Star Wars screen wipe.

Thank you for the quick answer but I don't think that is what I meant. I made a quick example of what exactly I mean. And it's important, that I'm able to give the squares a special color.

A video probably isn't necessary but...what the heck.

Thank you it worked
But is there a way to also color the "cards" in two different colors like on my screenshot? Sorry but my after effects class is a while ago and I haven't really used it since than 😕

You would do multiple transitions immediately following one another. One of those transitions would be to a colored box composition and then that would immediately transition to the second footage comp.

Yes...As Szalam said. Just create two solids underneath the main image in the colors you need, apply the same effect and offset the timings so they are slightly ahead of the main image.
