I have the standalone version of LR6 and have used it successfully for some time. Now, when I attempt to open the program, the title screen opens, but I get a message that "LR is not responding" when I attempt to go beyond that. For example, I cannot even get the File button to do anything. Would it be possible to simply reload the program?

Sadly, it didnt work. I successfully accessed the command to reset
preferences, said yes, selected a catalogue, the opening screen appeared
but the catalogue never loaded. When I clicked on File, or Library, it
said LR was not responding. I got the sam response when accessing an older
backup catalogue, so I dont think that is the problem. I found that
several of my most recent catalogue and backups carried the lock file. It
had not apparently been removed when the program was shut dowm. But going
back to a version of the catalogue that did not have the lock file also
didnt work.
