How to import desktop Photoshop files into Sketch?

I have some art that I've been working on in Photoshop CS6 for Mac, saved as a PSD file. The file has a number of layers in it.

In order to avoid using a mouse to draw, I now want to work on this file in Photoshop Sketch, for iPad Air 2.

Is it possible to import the PSD file into Sketch? If so, how?

(I was able to import the file as an image layer, but the layers were merged in the process- so this is not ideal)

Hi Flash,

It's not yet possible to bring .psds into Sketch as editable files. It is a request I hear with some frequency, but I don't know if, or when, the capability might make it into the app. Right now, as you mentioned, they can only be brought in as images.

I'll definitely share your comments with the product team.

Sue.

Hopefully I can make do with drawing over the images for now, then.

Thanks for the answer!

AlI know at this point is that bringing .psds into Sketch is definitely functionality the product team wants to incorporate. Unfortunately I don't know when it will make it into the app.

I'm sorry I don't have more information (I suppose even if I did have more I probably couldn't share it anyway ).

Sue.

Hei Sue,

Yes, this would definitely be fantastic. Thought this would be elementary for the app, as you might want to go back on forth depending on what you do and where you are. Synching both ways would be great

There isn't a direct solution to it but if you save your file to EPS format and then open it in Sketch, you will be able to retain the layers.

But the only problem here is that by doing this you will loose the name of all your layers.

Hi,

You can use Avocode PSD to Sketch Design Converter online. The only problem I faced is gradient conversion. It just flatten the colour, otherwise it's good.

You need to correct the colour.

a number of apps have no problem opening layered psd files on the ipad, probably clipstudio gives the most photoshop like experience even keeping gradient styles and layer effects, it's kinda weird now that sketch can't support it
