Tools and Control always awake...

Every time I open a document I must wake up Tools and Control.    Try as I might, I cannot find a way to have these 2 always awake with every old or new document I open.     Can't find anything in my ID manual, or on-line help.

Try restoring your InDesign preferences:

Trash, Replace, Reset, or Restore the application Preferences

Reset the Workspace that you're using in the Workspace popup menu in the upper right of your window. choose Reset (whatever the Workspace is) near the bottom of the menu right under Start. See attached screenshot.
